IGC to KML Converter
Turn a paragliding IGC file into a KML track and fly through it in Google Earth, at its real altitude and with a time slider. No signup, and your file stays on your device.
Conversion runs entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to SkyViz.
Want to see the flight first, or watch it in 3D? Open it in the IGC viewer.
Starting from GPX, FIT, or KML? Use the IGC converter.
Open your flight in Google Earth
- 1
Convert the file
Drop your .igc file above and download the .kml file.
- 2
Import it
In Google Earth, open the file from the menu or the Projects panel. It zooms to your track.
- 3
Follow the flight
The KML is a timed track, so Google Earth Pro can play it with its time slider.
For terrain replay made for pilots, with stats and video export, see the 3D IGC viewer guide.
Frequently asked questions
Google Earth does not read IGC directly. Convert the file to KML here, then open the .kml file in Google Earth.
The KML uses the GPS altitude from your IGC file as absolute altitude. Depending on the recorder, that altitude can be measured above the WGS84 ellipsoid rather than sea level, which puts it tens of metres off in places. Google Earth's terrain model is not exact either.
Yes. It is written as a Google Earth track with a UTC time on every point, so the flight can play back over time rather than only appearing as a line.
The timed track uses Google's gx:Track extension, which apps that only read basic KML may ignore. If that happens, use our IGC to GPX converter instead.
Yes. Each IGC fix becomes one KML point, with position, time, and GPS altitude. Pilot, glider, and the recorder's signature are not carried over, so keep your IGC file for contests.
No. Your browser reads and converts the file on your device, so it never reaches SkyViz, and you don't need an account.
